Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The warden of the Batanes provincial jail was detained after allegedly firing his service pistol in the facility in Basco town last Oct. 20, officials said yesterday.

Gov. Vicente Gato told The STAR that Senior Jail Officer 4 Jose Guitering was later released and allowed to report to work, but his service pistol was confiscated.

Gato said a case against Guitering is pending before the Department of Justice office in Basco.

Batanes police director Senior Superintendent Edgardo Pamittan said he ordered an investigation of the incident, adding that Guitering was allegedly drunk when he fired the gun.
