Tornado destroys 106 houses in Negros; 2 hurt

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Two persons were injured and 106 houses were either destroyed or damaged when a tornado hit a barangay in Isabela town, Negros Occidental Wednesday afternoon.

A report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the tornado, which lasted 15 minutes, also damaged the public market, health center and a school as well as toppled trees and electric posts.

The report said 36 houses were destroyed while 70 houses were damaged in Barangay Cansalongon Murcia.

The affected families are staying at the Cansalongon Elementary School.
