Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a man who has been posing as an Army official during a raid in his house in Rizal province on Friday.

CIDG chief Director Benjamin Magalong said police operatives nabbed Danilo Datu around 2:30 a.m. inside his house in Kasiglahan Village, Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez town.

Magalong said policemen seized from Datu three cal .38 revolvers with ammo, an improvised shotgun, a magazine for cal .45 with ammo, various documents, and different Philippine Army identification cards.

Magalong said that Datu, who has been claiming to be an Army major, has been issuing fake mission orders, memorandum receipts and Army Intel IDs to civilians and demanded fees amounting to P7,500.

Magalong said the Philippine Army disclosed that Datu is not a member of any of its unit.

Datu is now in the custody of police while illegal gun raps and usurpation of authority and other cases are being readied against him.
