Cops nab 3 counterfeiters in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested three suspected members of a crime syndicate engaged in producing counterfeit money inside an inn in Laguna Thursday night.
Nabbed during the entrapment operation at an inn in Sta. Cruz, Laguna were Cyrus Soliman, his brother Bong and Cyrus' wife Kin, who was allegedly puffing shabu when policemen raided their room.
The were also where caught producing fake money.
Police seized from the suspects 33 pieces of fake P500 bill and 20 pieces of bogus P1,000 bill which were all being painted with colored pencils to match appearance of real money.
The local police received information that the counterfeit money has been circulating in the area brought by the suspects from Manila.
Police said the suspects have been selling the fake P1,000 bill for P400 each while the bogus P500 bill fetches P200 each.
The three suspects are now facing violations of Article 166 of he Revised Penal Code or forgery of treasury bills and bank notes.
