BFP to procure P2.5-B new fire trucks

Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Fire Protection will acquire 469 new fire trucks worth P2.589 billion, the biggest procurement in BFP’s history.

The BFP said the procurement of new fire trucks is part of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s modernization program.

The BFP offered two kinds of fire trucks for bidding: 244 units of 1,000-gallon capacity and 225 units of 500-gallon capacity.

Sources said three bidders – LDLA-Wuhan JV, Kolonwei Trading and Hubein Jiangnan Special Automotive Factory, and Adlib International Sales – participated in the bidding.

The source said the LDLA-Wuhan JV bid P2.3 million for the supply of 469 fire trucks. The bid is P250 million lower than the bid submitted by the Kolonwei Trading and Hubein Jiangnan Special Automotive Factory.

The STAR learned that Adlib International Sales was disqualified for allegedly submitting insufficient documents, but has filed a memorandum for reconsideration, which will be decided by the BFP’s Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).

The lowest bid represents a total savings of over P263 million for the government.

Chief Superintendent Rodrigo Abrazaldo, BFP’s BAC chairman, said the BAC would subject the bid of LDLA-Wuhan JV to a post-qualification process to determine its eligibility and compliance with the bid requirements.

If found to be qualified, the BAC could officially declare it as the winner.
