2 killed as bus falls off creek in Zamboanga del Sur

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Two persons were killed and 15 more were wounded when a passenger bus fell off a creek in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur on Wednesday night.

The fatalities were bus driver Macario Omac of San Jose district, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, and a passenger identified as Baharan Salud, 50, a resident of Basilan province.

The names of the injured passengers and the bus conducter have yet to be revealed by the police.

Senior Superintendent Sofronio Ecaldre, police provincial director of Zamboanga del Sur, said the Rural Transit with plate number JBH 435 and body number 970 bound for Pagadian City was speeding along a highway in Barangay Maragang in Tigbao town when it overshot a sharp curve.

The slammed through a house before falling off the creek. The accident happened at around 11:30 p.m.

All occupants of the damaged house escaped unhurt.
