MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a civil engineer, believed to be a leader of a drug ring, in a sting operation in Cagayan de Oro City.

The PDEA said Wilson Roque, a resident of Block 2, 3rd Road, Sambaan Village, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, is allegedly the leader of the Transporter Drug Group operating in the city.

Belated reports showed that last October 12, around 10 p.m., Roque was arrested by elements of PDEA RO10 Misamis Oriental Provincial Special Enforcement Team after he agreed to deliver nine sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 10 grams worth P80,000 to a poseur-buyer along Vamenta Boulevard, Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.

Also seized from the suspect were a cal. 45 pistol, a Honda motorcycle and a mobile phone.

Two weeks ago, three suspected members of the Transporter Drug Group were apprehended, including a female senior police officer, during a buy-bust operation at a subdivision in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.

Roque will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Delivery of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He is currently detained at PDEA RO10 jail facility.
