Jinggoy asks for five-hour off from detention on Nov. 1

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada is asking the Sandiganbayan to allow him to visit and pay respect to his departed relatives and friends on All Saints Day.

In a two-page motion, Estrada asked the anti-graft court's 5th Division, chaired by Associated Justice Roland Jurado, that he be given a five-hour pass to visit the tombs of his loved ones.

Among those he wanted to visit are the crypts of his grandmother, Lola Mary; his grandfather Emilio and uncles George and Paulino; father in law Reynaldo Vitug; and sister Jessica, who are all buried at the San Juan Cemetery.

Estrada also plans to pay visit his best friend, actor Rudy Fernandez, at the Heritage Park Cemetery in Fort Bonifacio.

The detained senator asked the tribunal to be allowed to go the burial grounds from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in November 1.

Estrada, now detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, is facing plunder and graft charges in connection with the P10-billion pork barrel fund scam.
