Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

BINMALEY, Pangasinan, Philippines– Eight persons, including two teenagers, have been charged with violation of Republic Act 8049, or the Anti-Hazing Law, for allegedly causing injuries to four high school girls in a sorority initiation rite.

Superintendent Marlo Castillo, officer-in-charge police chief here, told The STAR on Thursday the case was filed before the Lingayen prosecutor’s office against Brent Caolboy, 19; a 16-year-old known only as Boy;  a certain Yuri, and five unidentified persons.

Castillo said the case was based on the sworn statements of two of the victims.

The girls, students of Parayao National High School, claimed they were blindfolded in an abandoned house in Barangay Naguilayan and hit with a wooden paddle, leaving them bruised and battered. They showed the bruises on their legs to school officials.
