TARLAC CITY, Philippines – This city’s Vice Mayor Miguel Tanedo, a relative of President Aquino, died of prostate cancer last Sunday.

Tanedo, 62, died at around 5 a.m. at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute in Quezon City. He was in his third term and a member of the Lakas-Christian-Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria, and their children Timmy, Dodjie and Sarah.

Aquino visited Tanedo’s wake Monday morning.

Tanedo will be replaced by Councilor Ann Belmonte, who ranks number one in the city council. With Belmonte assuming the post of vice mayor, the city council has two vacancies after councilor Kris Rigor resigned recently.
