CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Two Swiss men were shot dead by three Filipino assailants in Opol town, Misamis Oriental Sunday.

Baltazar Johann Ernie, 78, and Robert Erich Loever, 67, died at the scene from gunshots to the head and body.

The victims were at a beach resort, along with their Filipina friends, identified only as Rowelyn and Teresita, when they were attacked.

Ernie was said to be a former partner of Teresita, who is Loever’s fiancée.

Town police chief Inspector Alwin Baclao said the gunmen walked away from the crime scene after shooting.

Baclao said the assailants did not take any personal belongings from the Swiss men. Reports said the gunmen used silencers on their handguns.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
