MANILA, Philippines - The country can expect a fair weather this week, apart from isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said yesterday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken today.

No tropical cyclone was forecast to affect the country until Friday, it said.

Cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected in the next five days.

PAGASA said the coastal waters throughout the archipelago would be slight to moderate.

Meanwhile, the Ambuklao and Binga dams in Benguet yesterday continued to release excess water brought by Tropical Storm Mario.

As of 6 a.m. yesterday, the water level in the Ambuklao Dam was at 751.76 meters, slightly lower than its spilling level of 752 meters.

In Binga Dam, the water level was at 573.79 meters, below its spilling level of 575 meters.
