S. Korea grants P100-M aid for Quirino farmers
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – The Korean International Cooperation Agency turned over on Monday a P100-million seed fund for a credit scheme project for farmers in Quirino province.
Quirino Gov. Junie Cua said the assistance would be coursed through the provincial government’s Quirino Integrated Agricultural Development Project (QIADAP), which will manage the fund.
“We are very thankful for the assistance from our brethren in South Korea. This is a noble project and they will also assist us in other undertakings to help develop our province,” Cua said at last Monday’s turnover rites.
“This is mainly for QIADAP members as a start-up fund in undertaking a credit scheme to help farmers compete with the trend of commercial inputs,” said Ching Ki Wan, project manager and president of the Korea Institute for Rural Development.
Indigent families can also avail themselves of the fund for livelihood and other agriculture-based income generating projects.
