Noy kin’s appointment to Clark airport confirmed
MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang yesterday confirmed the appointment of Emigdio Tanjuatco III, said to be a second cousin of President Aquino, as president and chief executive officer of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC).
Tanjuatco, whose appointment was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. last Aug. 27, will also serve as a member of the ClAC board until June 30, 2015.
Tanjuatco replaced Victor Jose Luciano, who was appointed as a member of the Civil Aeronautics Board.
Early this month, The STAR reported Tanjuatco’s appointment to the CIAC, which runs the Clark International Airport and is under the Department of Transportation and Communications.
Reports said Tanjuatco is a son of former Rizal Rep. Egmidio Sumulong-Tanjuatco, a first cousin of the late President Corazon Aquino. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte, however, cannot confirm whether Tanjuatco is a second cousin of Aquino.
Malacañang also announced new appointments in the departments of health, public works and trade, as well as in CIAC, Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) and the Office of the President.
Appointed directors were Alipio Fernandez Jr. and Ramil Guiao of the CIAC; Valeriano Lopez, Celia Carlos and Ruby Constantino of the health department and Lea Delfinado of the public works department.
Danilo Enriquez was named director of the Bureau of Philippine Standards of the trade department, Briccio Santos as chairperson of the FDCP, Gregorio Ramon Tingson as LEDAC youth representative and Reginald Villasanta as undersecretary of the Office of the President.
