ARMM environment exec, employee shot

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Gunmen shot and wounded an officer and another employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) here last Friday. 

Alexar Palawan, planning officer of ARMM’s environment and natural resources department, and Baharudin Baula were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Probers have yet to identify the suspects and determine the motive for the attack.

The victims were in a car when motorcycle-riding gunmen waylaid them.

Kahal Kedtag, secretary of DENR-ARMM, condemned the attack. Kedtag himself survived an ambush in Cotabato City in 2006.

Police said the attempt on Kedtag was work-related.
