Girl, 14, claims 7 men raped her

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines– A 14-year-old girl told a local radio station here that she was raped by seven men in Pontevedra town last May, but remembered the incident only recently after allegedly watching a video of the crime.

The victim told Bombo Radyo that she believes her aunt had something to do with the filming of the rape. She said her aunt earned money from sales of the video.

The girl said she attended a reunion at her aunt’s house in Barangay Miranda last May 3. She said someone gave her siopao and she fell asleep after eating it.

The victim said someone woke her up and made her take drugs and she could no longer remember what happened next.

The girl was accompanied by her father when she filed a case with the municipal police’s women and children’s protection desk last Thursday.

The local social welfare office recommended that the victim undergo psychiatric evaluation due inconsistencies in her statement.

Town police chief Senior Inspector Ariel Pico said the evaluation was set last Friday, but the victim did not return to the police station.

Pico said the victim first claimed the rape happened in Iloilo, but later changed it to Hinigaran and Pontevedra.
