La Mesa Dam reaches spilling level
MANILA, Philippines - The La Mesa Dam in Quezon City reached its spilling level on Friday morning after Tropical Storm "Mario" and the southwest monsoon dumped torrential rains over Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
As of 10:10 a.m., the water level of the reservoir is at 80.15 meters, Manila Water announced on Twitter.
The water shed supplies potable water to a larger part of Metro Manila. It flows to the Tullahan River that stretches through Quezon City and the cities of Malabon, Valenzuela and Caloocan in the northern part of the metro.
Meanwhile, the Marikina River is now on critical level at 19.8 meters as of 9:58 a.m.
The local government has implemented forced evacuation for residents near the waterway.
