P6-M shabu seized, 10 minors rescued in Surigao raid

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines – Sachets of shabu with a street value of P6 million were seized and 10 minors rescued during a raid on a suspected drug den here last Tuesday.

A team of police officers and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Alex Saliling, Norayna Saliling, Jamil Teves, Nyrma Teves and Malic Banding at an apartment in Barangay Lipata.

The minors were reportedly hired by the suspects to sell shabu, said Inspector Joel Cabañes, chief of the city police’s anti-illegal drug special task force.

The drugs were reportedly packed in 191 plastic sachets when confiscated by the raiding team. A laboratory test confirmed the sachets’ contents to be shabu, said PDEA-Caraga regional director Erwin Ogario.

Cabañes said they also confiscated 10 cell phones, a laptop computer, a weighing scale, six logbooks, assorted identification cards and P44,000 cash.

The 10 minors were turned over to the custody of the city police’s women and children protection desk while drug charges were filed against the suspects.
