Village chief nabbed for murder

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A village chairman was arrested for the murder of his constituent in San Pablo town, Isabela Monday night.

Bricsio Gammaru, 32, of Barangay Dalena, was allegedly identified as one of the men who shot dead Jonard Soriano last year, said Isabela police director Senior Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr.

No bail was recommended for Gammaru’s temporary liberty.

Gammaru and his group were also tagged in the killing of a certain Loreto Butac, also of Barangay Dalena, last April.

Both killings were reportedly due to a land dispute.

Last year, Gammaru was also charged for allegedly attempting to shoot a police officer in the nearby Cabagan town.
