Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur, Philippines – Suspected communist rebels burned three heavy equipment and destroyed newly planted rubber trees in Sitio Maitum, Barangay San Martin, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur on Monday.

Senior Inspector Janno Corbeta, Agusan del Sur police spokesman, said New People’s Army (NPA) rebels poured gasoline on a farm tractor, bulldozer and backhoe owned by the group of Manobo tribal leader Calpito Egua.

On July, 16 persons, including 12 NPA rebels, were killed during a gunfight when the rebels attacked the home and office of a certain Datu Calpit, a Manobo chieftain in Barangay Sta. Irene also in Prosperidad town.
