Comelec delists 10,422 'dormant' voters in Koronadal City
SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines - The Commission on Elections delisted 10,422 voters from the book of voters in Koronadal City for failing to exercise the right of suffrage during the 2010 and 2013 elections.
Lawyer Richard Opinion, Koronadal City election officer, on Wednesday said the “dormant” voters have been removed from the official list of the city’s 78,599 duly registered voters.
Opinion, in an interview with Catholic station dxOM in Koronadal City, said the delisted voters can still register in the on-going listing process, which is in preparation for the 2016 synchronized local and presidential elections.
He appealed to Koronadal City residents to refrain from procrastinating to avoid inconvenience during a possible rush by prospective registrants as the listing process gets close to its October 2015 deadline.
“We can attend to no less than 50 registrants each day,” Opinion said.
He said the turnout of their on-going registration of voters is high.
“This is an indication that the residents of Koronadal City are well informed about this activity,” he said.
