BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A police official in the Cagara region was reportedly arrested in an anti-drug operation in Surigao del Norte on Saturday.
The Caraga regional police office identified the police officer as Senior Police Officer 1 Felizardo Carduza Jr., deputy chief of Socorro town police.
Carduza was arrested at his home in Barangay Taruc-Navarro based on a warrant issued by Judge Emmanuel Escatron.
The arresting team reportedly seized from Carduza’s house two plastic sachets believed to contain shabu, drug paraphernalia and P6,000 cash.
Police said Carduza was taken to the Surigao del Norte police office in Surigao City for questioning.
Last week, a former police officer and a barangay councilman were arrested by agents of Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a raid in Barangay Ong Yiu.
PDEA Caraga regional director Erwin Ogario identified the police officer as Jessie Doce, 45, and the village official as Dumalagan Vallecer, 45, of Barangay Golden Ribbon.
