Man dead, wife hurt in Pampanga shooting

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines  – A businessman was killed while his wife was wounded when a man shot them in Barangay Telebastagan here Wednesday.

Emmanuel Avedillo died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds while his wife Erlinca was taken to the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Angeles City for treatment.

Pampanga police director Senior Superintendent Marlon Madrid said his men arrested the alleged assailant, identified as Benjamin Fontanilla.

Madrid said the couple and their son were at the Essel Supermarket for a meeting with a certain Vicky Fontanilla.

Police have yet to determine whether Vicky was related to the suspect.

The Avedillos were about to bet at a lotto outlet in the supermarket when a man in a jacket shot them.

The suspect fled on a motorcycle, but was arrested by responding policemen.
