ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Gunmen seized a utility van after ordering its passengers, who were all public school teachers, to disembark in Lamitan City, Basilan yesterday.
Acting city police chief Senior Inspector Gean Gallardo said the five teachers were bound for Tipo-Tipo town when the incident occurred at around 8 a.m. in Barangay Baas.
Gallardo said the terrified teachers sought shelter at a nearby residence. They were later brought to the police station for debriefing.
Police said the suspects seized the van due to a rift with its owner.
