Pakistani, Pinoy aide killed in Basilan robbery

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A Pakistani man, who was engaged in money-lending, was killed while his Filipino driver was wounded during a robbery near the border of Lamitan City, Basilan yesterday, police said.

Police investigation showed that Rehman Kan, who was staying in Lamitan, and his driver, Albert Palconit, were riding a motorcycle when unidentified gunmen flagged them down in the vicinity of Barangay Sabong and Parangbasak at past 1.p.m Wednesday.

Citing witnesses’ accounts, police said the suspects shot the victims with a caliber .45 pistol, killing Kan at the scene.

The suspects escaped with an undetermined amount of money.
