16 fishermen repatriated from Indonesia

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Sixteen Filipino fishermen who were caught illegally fishing in the waters off Indonesia arrived here yesterday morning.

The fishermen on board a chartered Srijaya flight arrived from Manado City, North Sulawesi in East Indonesia. They were held at a detention facility in the port city of Bitung before they were sent home.

The 16 were identified as Eugenio Angot, Alan Cabrelos, Edgar Mayormita, Dionisio Calle, Jr., Erwin Soringa, Elmer Montero, Arman Matanud, Windel Lunawan, Noel Soringa, Rex Chan Guillen, Rico Batlag, Meguelito Lanawan, Bonifacio Carillo, Jr., Herman Gallebot, Roldan Lanawan and Rodel Apole.

They were all residents of General Santos City, where they were employed by a fishing company that took them to Indonesia.
