STAR correspondent dies of heart attack

MANILA, Philippines - Veteran community journalist and The STAR correspondent Bernardino “Dino” Balabo of Bulacan passed away yesterday due to cardiac arrest. He was 45 years old.

Balabo is survived by his wife Jocelyn and daughter Bethany Irene.

He was rushed to Bulacan Provincial Hospital at around 3 p.m. Sunday due to hypoglycemia. Twelve hours later, he succumbed to cardiac arrest.

Balabo had also been writing for The STAR’s sister publication Pilipino Star Ngayon since 2006. He contributed for Pampanga’s Punto Central Luzon and Central Luzon Business Week.

He was news editor of Bulacan-based publication Mabuhay.

 “We are saddened by his sudden demise. Dino was one of our best correspondents,” The STAR editor-in-chief Ana Marie Pamintuan said.
