John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines - A suspected gun-for-hire on Friday shot dead the municipal administrator of South Upi town in the second district of Maguindanao in a daring attack in Cotabato City.

Sr. Supt. Rolen Balquin, director of the Cotabato City police, identified the fatality as 64-year-old Anastacio Sidik Roxas.

Roxas was about to alight from his vehicle after parking along a street not far from the Cotabato City Police Precinct 1 when the gunman shot him with a caliber .45 pistol, hitting him in the underarm.

More than 200 people have been killed here in one attack after another since 2010.

Witnesses said the gunman who shot Roxas casually walked away from the scene and disappeared.

The suspect reportedly wore a green shirt and a black short pants.

Investigators are still clueless on the suspect’s identity and his motive for killing Roxas.
