MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City police confirmed that the wife of slain racing champion Enzo Pastor is now being investigated as a suspect in the June 12 fatal shooting.

Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said Wednesday that Pastor's widow, Dalia Guerrero Pastor, may have had a relationship with the alleged mastermind of the killing.

Parañaque businessman Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman was nabbed Tuesday night in Muntinlupa following the arrest of Pasay City Police Officer 3 Edgar Angel, who claimed to have been paid P100,000 by De Guzman to shoot Pastor.

"Ang na-establish po natin dito ay may relasyon si 'Sandy' at po ang asawa nung namatay. Ongoing po yung imbestigation," Marcelo said in a televised press conference on Wednesday.

He said that Angel's judicial confession led to the alleged mastermind of the killing. The suspected gunman claimed that his contract with De Guzman was already made in December last year, but the planned slay was only executed last June.

Pastor's assistant, Paolo Salazar, was wounded during the ambush.

De Guzman was known to be friends with Pastor and and the latter's wife years before the incident. He and Angel face criminal charges for murder, frustrated murder, and illegal gun possession.
