Abu Sayyaff man nabbed in Basilan

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities have arrested a suspected member of the dreaded Abu Sayyaf Group in Basilan, police said on Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Edgar Basbas, Police Regional Office 9 director, said Jauhari Idris, was nabbed by the joint members of 53rd and 54th Special Action Company (SAC), 5th Special Action Battalion, and Regional Intelligence Division (RID), and local police in Barangay Tabdug, Lamitan City, around 1:55 a.m. on Monday.
Basbas said Idris has a string of warrants of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges.
The 9th Judicial Region, Branch 1, Isabela City, Basilan issued the warrant of arrest against Idris for the criminal cases with no bail recommended.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Regional Intelligence Division.
