John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines   – A grenade explosion rocked a residential area in Datu Odin Sinsuat town here Sunday night.

No one was killed in the blast, which occurred near a chapel in a park in Tamontaka district, town police chief Senior Inspector Datutulon Pinguiaman said.

He said witnesses saw one of three motorcycle-riding men lob a grenade several meters from the gate of the park. The men then fled toward Cotabato City, Pinguiaman said.

Bomb experts found fragments of a Belgian grenade at the blast scene.

Investigators have yet to identify the perpetrators and the motive for the bombing.

Last Friday, a grenade also exploded at a metal shop in Makilala town in North Cotabato. Investigators said motorcycle-riding men were responsible for the bombing.
