Woman, daughter found dead at pension house

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A woman and her 4-year-old daughter were found dead at a pension house in this city Friday. 

Leah Cañete, 34, was found hanging in a room at Pension Bacolod, while Hannah Kate was on the bed, with her wrists slashed.

A local radio station reported that Cañete might have slashed her child’s wrists before hanging herself in the shower room.

The victims, residents of Murcia town in Negros Occidental, were identified by Cañete’s mother, Ma. Luz Segovia.

On Friday morning, Segovia sought the help of a local radio station as her daughter and grandchild were missing since Thursday night.

Segovia said on Thursday afternoon, the victims went to Bacolod City to pick up the money that her husband sent from Cavite. 

She said her daughter was suffering from a nervous breakdown.

Records showed the victims checked in at the pension house at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday.

After failing to check out at noon the next day, the management of the pension house had their room opened and found them dead.
