Pawnshop robbery foiled

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Police foiled an attempt by the so-called “termite boys” to rob a pawnshop in Tagaytay City on Monday.

The robbers were about to enter the Jaro Pawnshop Plaza through a manhole when they saw a police patrol car near the area at around 12:25 a.m., said Senior Superintendent Joselito Esquivel, Cavite police director.

Police recovered from the site an acetylene kit, two hydraulic jacks and assorted screwdrivers, believed left behind by the robbers who fled on foot.

Probers said they would look into the possibility that the same group was responsible for a similar incident that occurred in Dasmariñas, Cavite last Friday.

In that incident, the robbers took P700,000 from the Luzon Development Bank.
