MANILA, Philippines - An off-duty cop shot and killed two armed robbers during a heist at a gas station Sunday night in Quezon City.
Reports reaching the Philippine National Police-National Operations Center (NOC) in Camp Crame showed that the unidentified suspects arrived at the Orange Fuel Gas station along Quirino Highway on board a black motorcycle and posed as customers.
The back rider alighted and went to the cashier’s booth and at gunpoint, held up the cashier as they tried to take the establishment's earnings.
Police Officer 2 Cesar Tolentino, assigned at Station Investigation Division Management Section in Caloocan City Police Station who was gassing up at the area, responded to the incident after being informed by the gasoline boy.
Tolentino approached the suspects, introduced himself as a police officer and ordered the two to surrender.
However, the suspects boarded the motorcycle and tried to flee while the back rider fired at the cop, who retaliated and hit the two.
The wounded suspects were brought by responding policemen to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment but later on pronounced as dead by the attending physician.
Police recovered a caliber.38 revolver loaded with four live ammunition and two fired cartridge cases on its cylinder.
