LAGUNA, Philippines – A former barangay chairman was killed in an attack believed sparked by a land dispute in Calamba City Tuesday.
Rodolfo Garcia, 55, was killed on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds in the body, said Superintendent Marvin Saro, city police chief.
Garcia, who served from 2007 to 2009, was working at his farm in Barangay Hornalan when two motorcycle-riding men shot him at around 8 a.m.
Investigators are eyeing a land dispute as the motive for the killing.
Saro said they were able to identify the assailants through the help of some witnesses. He declined to name them pending operations to arrest them.
