MANILA, Philippines - More than seven kilos of improvised explosive devices (IED) and other bomb-making paraphernalia were seized in a raid in Maco, Compostela Valley on Friday.

A report reaching Camp Crame said members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Region 11 and the Compostela Valley police raided a house owned by a certain Allan Montecalvo, alias Em-Em, in Barangay Elizalde.

Among the confiscated items were an IED, a magazine for a caliber .45 pistol, a blasting cap without detonating cord, assorted IED components, a bundle of electrical wire, 16 bullets for an M-14 rifle, a megaphone and documents believed belonging to the New People’s Army.

As members of the raiding team were leaving, they saw a wire protruding from a house reportedly left vacant for more than two months by its owner, identified as Jona Aricos.

The agents searched the house and discovered another IED weighing at least six kilos, 18 rounds of ammunition for a .50 caliber machine gun, a holster for a caliber .45 pistol, a soldering iron and assorted medical supplies.
