Typhoon Jose leaves 2 dead in Pangasinan

Alexis Romero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of two teenage boys who went missing in Pangasinan at the height of Typhoon Jose.

Rodnel Javillonar, 15, and Ronald Perez, 14, were last seen Tuesday when they jumped from a hanging bridge to swim in Agno River.

Their bodies were retrieved two kilometers away from the hanging bridge on Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said yesterday.

Javillonar and Perez were the only victims of Jose, which left the country on Thursday.

The typhoon affected 4,355 families or 15,769 persons in Ilocos and Central Luzon regions.

At least 500 families or about 2,500 persons are receiving assistance outside evacuation centers.

NDRRMC said flooding in Central Luzon has subsided but eight barangays in Calasiao, Pangasinan remain flooded as of yesterday.

Four roads in Ilocos and two roads in Cordillera also remain impassable due to flooding, landslides and rockslides.

Jose damaged P1.62 million worth of crops in Pangasinan.

A total of P226,700 worth of assistance has been extended to affected families in Calasiao and Sta. Barbara in Pangasinan.
