10 hurt as bus sideswipes jeep along NLEX
MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Ten persons were injured when a passenger bus sideswiped a passenger jeepney along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Bocaue, Bulacan yesterday morning.
The victims, who were jeepney passengers, were rushed to the St. Paul Hospital in Bocaue and Montefalco Hospital in Meycauayan City for treatment, a report from the Tollways Management Corp. said.
The incident occurred along NLEX’s southbound lane in Barangay Taal at past 5 a.m., said case investigator Police Officer 3 Francis Ramos.
Ramos said the jeepney (license plate CNR-312) swerved, causing a Victory Liner bus to hit it.
Jeepney driver Rommel Guevarra claimed a vehicle in front suddenly reduced speed, prompting him to change lanes.
Guevarra and bus driver Marlon Obrero were in police custody as of press time.
