Cotabato City gov't employees pray for resolution in fatal roadside bombing

John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines - Employees of the city government and barangay officials on Tuesday lit candles and prayed for the resolution of the August 5, 2013 roadside bombing here that killed eight people and injured some 40 others.

Authorities are still clueless on who were responsible for the attack.

Senior Supt. Rolen Balquin, director of the Cotabato City police, told Catholic station dxMS here Tuesday morning that they have not stopped from exhausting all means of identifying the culprits.

The explosion that rocked a stretch of the Sinsuat Avenue here exactly a year ago was preceded by the deadly bombing about four years earlier of the entrance to the city’s Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

The bombing near the gate of the cathedral remained unsolved, too.

The bombers that pulled off last year’s attack along Sinsuat Avenue used a vehicle packed with explosives, set off from a distance with an improvised triggering device.
