One hurt in Manila fire

MANILA, Philippines - A firefighter was hurt after fire broke out inside a three-storey building in Manila Sunday night, destroying around P5 million worth of property.

Reports said that the blaze started around 7 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Stargate Pensionne, at the corner of Alonso and Adriatico streets in Ermita district.

The flames quickly spread throughout the building with floors  made of wood, the reports added.

Firefighters were forced to destroy the windows to let the thick smoke out of the building.

Arson investigators were still determining the cause of the fire which was put out four hours later.
