N. Cotabato board seeks ban of PCSO’s ‘Bingo Milyonaryo’

John Unson - The Philippine Star

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Members of the provincial board on Thursday urged local government units (LGUs) in the province to ban the operation of the “Bingo Milyonaryo” of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office for religious reasons.

Board members passed a resolution urging all LGUs in the province to stop PCSO’s bingo operations, which they said could be done based on the Local Government Code.

“Even if Bingo Milyonaryo is legal, it can still destroy the moral fiber of society in the province,” said board member Loreto Cabaya.

Cabaya said the Bingo Milyonaryo is a form of gambling that should not be allowed in the province.

The move of the provincial board came after Infinity Corp. announced it would operate Bingo Milyonaryo in Kidapawan City under a franchise from the national government.

Benjamin Sison, speaking on behalf of Infinity Corp., said their operation is legal and covered by a permit issued by the PCSO.
