Gunmen kill school principal in Zamboanga del Sur ambush

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Motorcycle-riding gunmen killed a public high school principal in an ambush on Wednesday morning in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Superintendent Glenn Dulawan, Pagadian City police chief, identified the victim as Dindo Barsi, principal of the Pagadian National High School in Sitio Gumamela, Barangay Kagawasan, about 7 kilometers from the city proper.

Dulawan said the school principal, driving a service motorcycle, was about to enter the school gate when the two gunmen drove by and shot him from behind. The incident happened at around 8 a.m.

The school principal sustained a gunshot wound in the head.

“It appears the suspects are professional hired killers,” Dulawan said.

He said that based on initial investigations, the school principal's killing could be business related.
