MANILA, Philippines - The military’s top spy is taking over the leadership of the Army division securing the Davao region, a known hotbed of communist rebels.
Maj. Gen. Eduardo Año, Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines commander, is assuming the leadership of the 10th Infantry Division today, Army chief Lt. Gen. Hernando Iriberri said.
Año will succeed Maj. Gen. Ariel Bernardo, who reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56 tomorrow.
