TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Police have filed murder charges against a third suspect in the killing early this month of a village councilman-brother of the vice mayor of Pamplona, Cagayan.
Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel, Cagayan Valley police director, said the suspect, Arythmus Reynon, was among the three men who allegedly gunned down councilman Edmund Ifurung, younger brother of Vice Mayor Edwin Ifurung, last July 3.
Police records show that Reynon has pending robbery cases.
Laurel said two former soldiers were also tagged in the slay but witnesses refused to identify them, as they feared for their lives, saying the assailants were henchmen of a “big personality” in the province.
