MANILA, Philippines - Authorities have raided another warehouse in Tacloban City and seized P15 million worth substandard construction materials, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Thursday.
CIDG chief Director Benjamin Magalong said the substandard construction materials was discovered by operatives in a warehouse in Barangay Nula-Tula last Wednesday..
Magalong said authorities will file charges for violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines against JJ Mega Holdings Corporation Inc., managed by a Filipino-Chinese businessman Eddie Fan.
Seized during the raid were corrugated galvanized iron sheets and plain sheets, steel bars of different sizes and voluminous plywoods with no markings.
Prior to the raid, Department of Trade and Industry representatives with CIDG operatives conducted an ocular inspection of the area and found out that there was a violation of non-compliance with DTI requirements.
The inspection team also found that the source of the substandard building materials were imported from China.
