CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is implementing six infrastructure projects worth P207.18 million to upgrade the 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
BCDA president and chief executive officer Arnel Paciano Casanova said the projects include the P71.62-million fortification of the bridge that collapsed into the Pasig-Potrero River during a typhoon a year ago in Porac town in this province.
“We are on track in completing the fortification work by the end of July so that when the strong rains come, the structural integrity of the Pasig-Potrero bridge and the temporary Bailey bridge will not be compromised and the safe travel of the motorists plying the SCTEX is ensured,” Casanova said.
The other projects involve protection for the Gumain River bridge’s piers 5 and 6, P18.96 million; construction management and supervision of the long-term permanent work at the Pasig-Potrero bridge, P7.13 million; asphalt pavement resurfacing, P68.48 million; and bridge revetment, slope and drainage repair, P12.43 million.
