P459-M illegal drugs seized in Region 1

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines – The Region 1 police seized P459,661,948.53 worth of prohibited drugs in the first six months this year, way higher than the P52.7-million haul during the same period last year. 

Chief Superintendent Roman Felix, Region 1 police director, said among those seized in various parts of the region were 238,001 marijuana plants, 500,001 seedlings, 293.73 kilos of dried marijuana leaves, and 10.24 kilos of seeds. 

Also confiscated were 960.09 grams of shabu and 2,750 grams of other illegal drugs. Based on records, most seizures were made in Ilocos Sur.

Felix said 326 cases were filed in court against 422 arrested suspects.
