CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Five persons were killed when a trailer truck rammed their Toyota Corolla along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) in Bacolor, Pampanga on Saturday, police said.

The fatalities were identified as Jesus Icban, 51; his wife Justine and 10-year-old son Jan Clarence; Norma Layug, and Junnel Icban. Three-year-old Jenel Icban survived the mishap.

Police said the truck was cruising JASA when it suddenly stopped to avoid a vehicle that overtook it. The truck then swerved to the opposite lane, ramming the Toyota Corolla bound for the City of San Fernando.

A public utility jeepney hit the truck that had blocked the road, causing injuries to its driver and number of passengers, reports said. The truck driver is in police custody.
