ILOILO , Philippines – A municipal councilor of Badiangan town here is now being hunted down after he allegedly shot and wounded a drunk teenage boy last Friday night.
The suspect, Gilfred Oremo, has not sent any surrender feelers, said Senior Inspector Dennis Pamonag.
The 17-year-old victim is still recuperating at Western Visayas Medical Center for a bullet wound in the back.
Investigation showed that the victim and a teenage friend were on their way to a store to buy liquor when they chanced upon Oremo and chatted with him for a while.
Oremo left the two boys at a waiting shed and boarded his motorcycle. The teenagers then got tree branches and placed them in the middle of the road.
To their surprise, Oremo went back, angry at what they did to block motorists. But instead of apologizing, the victim allegedly answered back, further enraging the councilor who grabbed him by the collar.
The two grappled, until Oremo pulled his handgun and shot the boy. Oremo immediately fled the scene and has been in hiding since then.
