LTFRB urged to appeal CA ruling on GV Florida

MANILA, Philippines - A group supporting survivors and relatives of the victims of a bus crash involving a unit of GV Florida bus company is asking the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to appeal a ruling by the Court of Appeals (CA) lifting the suspension meted on the firm.

 “We commit to help the LTFRB ensure that transport companies comply with road safety and transportation laws and policies, as well as in educating the public on their rights as commuters and citizens,” read a statement issued by Dakila-Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism.

On Friday, LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez said they would start returning the license plates of GV Florida’s 186 buses in compliance with the CA ruling.

Ginez said they would pursue their plan to appeal the decision of the appellate court.

According to Dakila, survivors and relatives of the bus crash – which left 14 people dead including comedian Tado Jimenez  – were angered by the CA order, as they claimed they have not seen reforms on the part of the bus company.

The group challenged the bus company to prove that their buses are safe and the drivers well trained and to fulfill their promise to help and settle their obligations to all the victims.
